More women kidnapped for brides - China News - SINA English: ""The number of foreign women trafficked to China is definitely rising," Chen said, without disclosing how many women have been rescued by Chinese police nationally.
However, in North China's Hebei province, police have rescued 206 trafficked foreign brides since April 2009, mainly from Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand and Cambodia, according to figures from the provincial public security department.
Chen said the lack of natural barriers, such as rivers or mountains in the border areas between China and Southeast Asian countries, in addition to poverty in some regions in these countries, contribute to the rising trafficking of foreign women."

Lamed Vav Tzadikim « TheWritersCafe.org
Lamed Vav Tzadikim « TheWritersCafe.org: "the numerical value of 36, may indeed be secondary to understanding the meaning of the shape of the Hebrew letters. Lamed is distinct in that it is the only Hebrew letter that goes above the guideline. Kabbalistically this can be explained to be the letter that taps into shemayim (heaven) to capture a creation or an idea. However capturing an idea alone might not be enough, and that is where the Vav comes in. The straight line from the top to the bottom which can be thought of to be the essence of the Vav, is what is needed to take an idea who’s origin is in Shemayim, and bring it down to the world where it van be revealed, understood, and acted upon."

A priest’s view of Penn State - Guest Voices - The Washington Post
A priest’s view of Penn State - Guest Voices - The Washington Post: "the pattern of abuse that happened in the church is far more widespread that what is reported to have happened at Penn State. And I should be clear about another factor: the Catholic Church has, since the scandal broke, instituted important steps to remove abusers and prevent future abuse. (The U.S. Bishops Conference’s Office for Child and Youth Protection is one such step.) But anyone who seeks to combat abuse in their institutions should be aware of a hidden trap: Be vigilant not only about safeguarding against sexual abuse, not only about holding perpetrators accountable, not only about turning over credible accusations to civil authorities, but also about resisting the powerful draw into feeling too sorry for the wrong people."

Indeed, people often seem unaware that they are being deluded into an overblown sympathy for the wrong “victim.”

A priest’s view of Penn State - Guest Voices - The Washington Post: "The grandiose person is often the “Pied Piper,” the one who easily gathers around him students, football players, altar boys, or even adults. Often a larger-than-life character, he may be the charismatic founder of an organization, the successful president of a school, the beloved teacher, the energetic Scout master, the popular pastor or the well-respected principal. Children and adolescents gravitate towards him because of his charisma; and, more importantly, because of his exalted status adults may feel more comfortable leaving their children in his care."

A priest’s view of Penn State - Guest Voices - The Washington Post: "experiences another person’s recoil or discomfort, he will not take that step back. He will not consider the other’s feelings. He may not even notice those feelings. Why? Because, as the saying goes, “it’s all about him.” The narcissist’s needs are paramount. This, in part, helps to explain the tragic tendency of the abuser to continue to abuse even when the other is clearly suffering. Though I have never witnessed an actual case of abuse first hand, it is not hard to imagine the suffering that must be evident on the face of the child or young person. The healthy person registers this emotional response; the narcissist does not."

A priest’s view of Penn State - Guest Voices - The Washington Post: " And in both cases longtime members of the institutions (parishioners and students) responded with intense emotions over the scandal. (The rioting at Penn State may have shown not only frustration over the removal of Coach Joe Paterno, but also shame and anger over the public denigration of their school.)
The differences are important to count as well: Penn State is not an institution responsible for the spiritual care of souls, as is the church. It is not is expected to live up to the highest standards of the Gospel. Nor is it an institution as vast as, as complex as, or with the international scope of the church. Most importantly, once those at the highest levels of authority discovered unavoidable proof of crimes, action was swift and decisive at Penn State, unlike, sadly, in the church. Bishops were not immediately removed for their failures in oversight, as was Joe Paterno and Graham Spanier, the university president."

A priest’s view of Penn State - Guest Voices - The Washington Post: "In both cases children were abused in the most sordid and tragic ways, scarring individuals for life. In both cases well-meaning adults reported the abuse, or at least their suspicions, to officials in the institution, assuming that this would put an end to the crimes. In both cases high-level officials could have reported these crimes to the police but did not do so (for a variety of reasons.) In both cases the abuse happened in an institution that seemed for many to be at the center of their lives. (The cheer “We are Penn State” shows a deep identification with the university.) In both places the desire to avoid “scandal” led to even greater scandal."

SAN Cloud 9- It starts with a name (sometimes) then...: The Great Google Caught Flat Footed!: " idea of "Google" being some sort of monopoly. This concept may come into play with certain standard online advertising concepts like CPC (cost per click) and Page Rank (a google term as in Google Page Rank). Thankfully there are some other website metrics out there like, Alexa tool bar ratings for example that also have some very important statistics that are not controlled by Google, rather Alexa is owned by Amazon.
Yet this is the story of how I found google promoting product that is not yet even in any sort of preliminary or even Beta Version!
Is it okay for a giant resource locator, like Google, to promote a product that does not yet even exist?

Now when a small independent Web Developer, such as myself, attempt to create some level of hype, interest excitement, or even simply promoting a domain, that may well be for sale. it understandable when such a developer pepper his postings with some hype about an upcoming project.

Rationalist Judaism: Is It Acceptable To Believe That...: "tendency towards entropy in the physical universe is complemented by the tendency towards simplicity within any complex system of thought. A small minority of people can appreciate a diversity of opinion and the sheer volume of knowledge needed to make complicated decisions. The majority don't care about such things and want a simple "It's always okay" or "It's never okay" kind of answer so they can perform without having to think too hard.
The current approach "Either you have a set of beliefs like us or you're a kofer" is reflective of this. Lessons From the Cockpit: Everyday Wisdom from the Flying Life - Lessons - Hope for Humanity: "There is a person you are meant to be. You know this because you’ve dreamed of it. Perhaps that person is a painter or a photographer. Maybe it’s an entrepreneur or a scientist. But whatever the goal, many of us have the same issue in trying to reach it: we tend to only see the people we are now. When we peer in the mirror it’s too easy to find the faults and imperfections, both inside and out. As much as many of us do not want to admit it, we cling to that person inside whom we don’t want to be.
Why do we do this? Maybe it’s because that person is all we know and it’s so difficult to imagine the higher-self beyond."

The Significance Of Page Ranks. | Free WordPress Themes Tips
The Significance Of Page Ranks. | Free WordPress Themes Tips: "“what is so great about your blog? I can simply write some nonsense and I am ranked higher than you!” These are the naive bloggers who don’t have a single hint about the significance of the Page Rank.
To these bloggers, the Page Rank is just a sign of prestige. To them it is like a scout’s badge pinned on their shoulders for doing a good deed. To them, it is just an adornment, to be shown off. They are simply ignorant about the value of what they have and why they are jumping with joy when they got it. Maybe they should sit back, look at the little green bar, and think. Why am I so happy with that? Why should I be happy with that?"

On Her Own
On Her Own: " I have this need to be able to connect the girl I was to the woman I am, but from time to time it will bewilder me that I don't keep Shabbos, that I'm not living in a frum community with several children who all go to yeshiva, that I'm not (to put it simply) who so many of my childhood friends are.
I like my life. I'm not dissatisfied with the decisions I've made but even years later, they still sometimes scare me. It makes me wonder if I'll ever be able to feel like my identity is completely stable."

The Rebbe: A brief biography - Life
The Rebbe: A brief biography - Life: "o hundreds of thousands of followers and millions of sympathizers and admirers around the world, he was -- and still is, despite his passing -- "the Rebbe," undoubtedly, the one individual more than any other singularly responsible for stirring the conscience and spiritual awakening of world Jewry.
The Rebbe was born in 1902, on the 11th day of Nissan, in Nikolaev, Russia, to the renowned kabbalist, talmudic scholar and leader Rabbi Levi Yitzchak and Rebbetzin Chana Schneerson. Rebbetzin Chana (1880-1964) was known for her erudition, kindness and extraordinary accessibility."

Reviving Jewish Life, Pride in Albania and Montenegro - News - Chabad Lubavitch World Headquarters: "The day before the Montenegro meeting, the delegation joined in the celebration of a Torah dedication in Tirana, Albania.
Meir Schijveschuurder, whose parents and three siblings were murdered in the Sbarro pizzeria suicide bombing in Jerusalem ten years ago, dedicated the Torah. Now a father and an attorney, Schijveschuurder donated a Torah in memory of his family to Chabad in Sweden, the country of his birth.
Albania, thought to have a population of 2000 Jews, will have High Holiday services led by visiting Chabad rabbis and a truck-top sukkah hut crisscrossing the country over the holiday of Sukkot.
The rabbinical delegation met with President Bamir Topi, Prime Minister Sali Berisha and the Mayor of Tirana, Lulzim Basha. "

JDC Worldwide Programs - Romania: "1967 with a large-scale relief operation mounted in response to the effects of chronic poverty on some of Romania’s most at-risk communities. More than 40 years later, poverty and rising inflation continue to plague Romania’s most vulnerable citizens, including elderly pensioners and at-risk children, with many parents barely able to provide for their families.
Response
Working with the Jewish community, JDC established the Children in Need program, which provides food, medicines, and school supplies to needy children. JDC’s other efforts include:
Cash assistance, meals-on-wheels, and other services for aging Holocaust survivors
Support for the Rosen Home for the Aged
Jewish summer camps, education programs, and other Jewish community life activities for families

JDC Worldwide Programs - Romania: " became part of the Soviet bloc following World War II, suffered greatly under its long-time communist dictator, Nicolae Ceausescu, who left the nation in dire economic straits when he was overthrown and executed in December 1989. It wasn’t until 1996, when the former communists still dominating the government were finally swept from power, that Romania began to undertake serious social and economic reforms. Its obsolete infrastructure and industrial base hampered its transition to a market economy, and macroeconomic gains have yet to overcome widespread poverty. Romania joined the European Union in 2007."

FrumFind.org: "Where ever we may be living, we need to see how we can do the things that we have been especially gifted to do. We may be in the US or in Israel or somewhere else, but the Jewish people have our bond to G-d, and a great deal is expected of us.
אור לגויים אחרים. אומה של כוהנים.
We the Jewish people are nation of priests, of Kohanim, We are a light unto the other nations.
If we as G-d’s chosen people give up on our land, on our rights and each other, then you can pretty much expect the other nations to follow suit. In biblical time it was Yosef, who sustained the entire planet because of his wisdom. We can not allow unwise leaders, or rabble rousing political activists to control our destiny.
The so called United Nations is clearly not what they may once have been. Perhaps they represent the poor or downtrodden, or perhaps they are simply wallowing in self interest. When all the nations of come to feel the pinch of an economic decline, the most obvious direction to turn to see who is pulling the political strings, is to take a look at the nation with the deepest pockets, and the most liquid of all assest."

Oh Its Easy!: Social Ad Cloud: FrumFind.org: "FrumFind.org: "Finally, we need to be able to ask each other for what we need. Things are tough everywhere, and we all might not be able to help each other in the exact way that we need. One person might be wealthy in creative ways while some else has abundant financial resources but requires assistance that may not be commonly available.
It may be the case where we need to give of ourselves freely now, without even expecting compensation, and then somehow remarkably we find our compensation comes down like rain from the heavens, that we had never even expected to receive."

Frum Find The Place To Find All Things Frum (Blog): New school on the block - The Jewish Standard: "The Jewish Standard
New school on the block - The Jewish Standard: "Amid a turbulent economy, an increasing number of day-school parents are suffering sleepless nights wondering how to scrape up enough money to cover tuition fees of $15,000 or more per child. Some parents are even opting out of day schools altogether.
Lauren Ariev Gellman understands their predicament. As the mother of three elementary-school-aged children, she was often frustrated by the high cost of her children’s day school and the relatively mediocre education it offered.
Instead of complaining, Gellman, of Highland Park, sought a solution. Her response to the “yeshiva tuition crisis” is the Pre-Collegiate Learning Center of New Jersey for eighth through 12th-graders, which will open at the East Brunswick Jewish Center in September.
The nondenominational Jewish school will offer a full curriculum of general and Judaic studies, including many self-paced individual-learning opportunities. The annual tuition, in contrast to many area Jewish high schools that cost upward of $20,000, will be $5,000.""

Ilan High School: "Extra curricular and enrichment activities are a key part of the Ilan experience, as well. The Ilan students, many of whom travel from various Jersey communities and from as far away as Brooklyn, NY, love to be here! Our school calendar is punctuated with trips, shabbatonim, Yimei Iyun, guest speakers, clubs, chagigot, chessed activities, parent-daughter events, yearbook and Torah Bowl meetings, basketball games, and school play practice. Ilan is a place of learning, growth, and joy, and within the broad range of activities and course offerings, each student has an opportunity to shine.
We encourage you to preview our school video which provides a wonderful glimpse into Ilan High School. A high school student will spend 300,000 minutes in high school: why not spend ten minutes watching the enclosed video and exploring a wonderful option"

I tolerate this ignorant philosophy because my friends family and people reap tremendous benefits from it. Were it not for Christian fundamentalists and the repeated stupidity of Muslim countries expressing their hate for the west and all it’s ideals. I wouldn’t be sitting here in tel aviv typing this."

The Lamp and Light of the Menorah an Introduction
The Lamp and Light of the Menorah an Introduction: When others become inspired by us,they in turn desire to inspire others. When each one inspires others who in turn inspire others, the whole world may become inspired. Then the world may come to see the unique purpose that G-d has given to each and every one of us and we can truly begin to “Change the World”. When we change ourselves we change the world because each one of us as a changed person will interact differently and with more kindness and concern for others. It is within each and every one of us to begin that reactions which has already begun, it’s ultimate cause the bringing in of Moshiach and the ultimate redemption of the world.

The MDGs also provide a framework for the entire international community to work together towards a common end making sure that human development reaches everyone, everywhere. If these goals are achieved, world poverty will be cut by half, tens of millions of lives will be saved"

In The Beginning
In The Beginning: "physics deals with the areas of energy as well as matter. The single scientist who had the greatest impact on the Science of Physics would most certainly be Albert Einstein.
His well known (even if poorly understood) theory of Relativity is often incorrectly stated as E=mc2. My hope is that the theory is rembered this way be cause our keyboards and fonts do not allow to put the little number two above the c.
E (energy)= m (the mass of the given object) times c (a constant which is the speed of light, which is 186,000 miles per second) squared (this huge number is multiplied times itself).
In other words the Energy which is contained within a given object (say a teaspoon) is equal to its weight given in grams times 186,000 x 186,000. Sound like a big number? Yes!"

Texas Agriculture Talks | Are food extremists the New Luddites?: "The most extreme of modern Luddites was Ted Kaczynski, the infamous Unabomber. Other notable Luddites include the extreme environmental and animal rights groups that burn subdivisions and laboratories.
But Luddism has a less extreme, though just as destructive, face. This includes the people who just stop their collective feet and shout, “No!” to every agricultural advance that science can produce.
I keep thinking about those more than 9 billion people that will inhabit Planet Earth just four decades from right now."

A Political Mugging in God’s Own Country: "I was also saddened to learn that the father of the Green Revolution, Norman Borlaug, died last week.
Borlaug decades long passion for tackling starvation has been matched by that of Professor Mary Abukutsa-Onyango. He, like Professor Abukutsa-Onyango, was a plant scientist. He had seen the Misissippi Dustbowl which many believed was caused through technological farming. Borlaug thought the problem was due to too little technology and that high yield drought resistant crops could prevent future dustbowls."

Iran Steps Up Incitement Against Israel « Commentary Magazine
Everyone knows that politicians, world leaders, dictators and despots never lie.

Iran Steps Up Incitement Against Israel « Commentary Magazine: "continues to compile evidence of Iran’s intent to build a nuclear weapon, the leader of that country is stepping up incitement against the intended target of that program: Israel. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad used the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to launch a tirade against Zionism as well as the West.

Iran Steps Up Incitement Against Israel
Jonathan S. Tobin 06.15.2011 - 9:45 AM
The SCO is a creation of Russia and China who have attempted to use it as a counter-force to NATO. In addition to Ahmadinejad, Chinese President Hu Jintao, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, and the leaders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, India, Pakistan and Mongolia attended the meeting of the group in Astana, Kazakhstan."
The author Jonathan S. Tobin:

Over the course of his career, he has won more than 50 journalism awards for commentary, editorial writing, and arts criticism. He has been named the top columnist and editorial writer for Jewish newspapers in North America several times, as well as the top weekly columnist and editorial writer in Pennsylvania and Connecticut. In 2006, he received the unique distinction of being named both the best editorial columnist and the best arts critic in Philadelphia by the Society of Professional Journalists.
The Article, By Jonathan S. Tobin, From Comentary Magazine continues:
In his speech, Ahmadinejad blasted 60 years of Zionism as well as the United States and the West whom he blamed for most of the world’s ills. Ironically, among his litany of American sins was its use of the first atomic weapons that ended the Second World War....
The Article points a finger at part of the problem regarding the media's ability to seemingly downplay the importance of the the potential threat of Iran's clear attempt to develop nuclear weapons by pointing to a recent article from another author of well known and respected newspapers based in New York:
Ahmadinejad is hoping those Western apologists for his country will ultimately prevent concerted action to stop it from obtaining nukes. The most prominent of those apologists, the New York Times’s Roger Cohen, wrote earlier this week to say all the evidence about Iran’s nuclear program should be ignored because the Iranians are too incompetent to actually build a bomb.
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/14/opinion/14iht-edcohen14.html?_r=1&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss
Interesting to note that the New York Times’s Roger Cohen, refers to Iran's advanced state of Uranium enrichment close to weapons grade (which is well documented in the literature) as — as the Godot of nuclear threats. Personally, I believe anyone who would have actually paid money to ever see that production staged, might even be more foolish then some of the Op Ed writers for the New York Times.
Waiting for Godot
by Samuel Beckett
name="allowscriptaccess" value="always">
My familiarity with the play and its original opening had to do with my choice of a nice easy way to satisfy the Humanities requirement at Santa Monica College, by taking a class called Theater of the Absurd. If I recall correctly the original opening was a notorious flop, because the expected dramatic action simply never happened.
They have apparently known each other for years. Once perhaps respectable, they are now homeless, debilitated, and often suicidal. They wonder out loud why they did not kill themselves years ago; they consider the possibility of doing it today. They are waiting for someone they call “Godot”. While they wait, they share conversation, food, and memories.Enotes.com/Waiting-For-Godot
I suppose its quite revealing that Roger Cohen;
"OP-ED COLUMNISTROGER COHEN [ In His article ]
Published: June 13, 2011
Iran Without Nukes
LONDON — Remember Iran?"
chose to display Iran is this manner (Godot). Perhaps he is calling on Iran to finally reveal their true intentions by insulting them, and displaying them as a couple of bumbling Hobos incapable of doing a single thing on their own, without this person called Godot.
We could also, by the same effort read too deeply into Roger Cohen's words and finally realize that the real danger is the current, "Global-lets just pretend its not happening policy" regarding Iran's Uranium enrichment program.
I suppose in a world where one can actually come face to face with some who will tell you (without even blinking) that the Holocaust never happened (as I did during my community college days) , that one could simply take on the attitude of an ostrich and simply choose to bury their head in the sand.
After all is was not so long ago that the US was very much against Iran. For the very same reasons. Iran has not changed their objectives and seeking to establish some sort of legitimate basis for its nuclear enrichment program.
The key is the fact that Iran is clever enough to predict the follow up question which is why spend so much money on producing nuclear energy when the country has plenty of oil. If Iran told us they were "going green" the entire world would just laugh in their faces. Why would China and Russia want to throw in their cards with Iran. well thats an entirely another topic.
In the meantime, if we ascribe depth and insight, perhaps where it clearly does not merit an application, we could re-interpret what Roger Cohen may be really trying to tell us:
...Iran, epicenter of inefficiency, unable to produce a kilowatt of electricity through its Bushehr nuclear reactor despite decades of effort..."
