On Her Own
On Her Own: " I have this need to be able to connect the girl I was to the woman I am, but from time to time it will bewilder me that I don't keep Shabbos, that I'm not living in a frum community with several children who all go to yeshiva, that I'm not (to put it simply) who so many of my childhood friends are.
I like my life. I'm not dissatisfied with the decisions I've made but even years later, they still sometimes scare me. It makes me wonder if I'll ever be able to feel like my identity is completely stable."

The Rebbe: A brief biography - Life
The Rebbe: A brief biography - Life: "o hundreds of thousands of followers and millions of sympathizers and admirers around the world, he was -- and still is, despite his passing -- "the Rebbe," undoubtedly, the one individual more than any other singularly responsible for stirring the conscience and spiritual awakening of world Jewry.
The Rebbe was born in 1902, on the 11th day of Nissan, in Nikolaev, Russia, to the renowned kabbalist, talmudic scholar and leader Rabbi Levi Yitzchak and Rebbetzin Chana Schneerson. Rebbetzin Chana (1880-1964) was known for her erudition, kindness and extraordinary accessibility."

Reviving Jewish Life, Pride in Albania and Montenegro - News - Chabad Lubavitch World Headquarters: "The day before the Montenegro meeting, the delegation joined in the celebration of a Torah dedication in Tirana, Albania.
Meir Schijveschuurder, whose parents and three siblings were murdered in the Sbarro pizzeria suicide bombing in Jerusalem ten years ago, dedicated the Torah. Now a father and an attorney, Schijveschuurder donated a Torah in memory of his family to Chabad in Sweden, the country of his birth.
Albania, thought to have a population of 2000 Jews, will have High Holiday services led by visiting Chabad rabbis and a truck-top sukkah hut crisscrossing the country over the holiday of Sukkot.
The rabbinical delegation met with President Bamir Topi, Prime Minister Sali Berisha and the Mayor of Tirana, Lulzim Basha. "

JDC Worldwide Programs - Romania: "1967 with a large-scale relief operation mounted in response to the effects of chronic poverty on some of Romania’s most at-risk communities. More than 40 years later, poverty and rising inflation continue to plague Romania’s most vulnerable citizens, including elderly pensioners and at-risk children, with many parents barely able to provide for their families.
Response
Working with the Jewish community, JDC established the Children in Need program, which provides food, medicines, and school supplies to needy children. JDC’s other efforts include:
Cash assistance, meals-on-wheels, and other services for aging Holocaust survivors
Support for the Rosen Home for the Aged
Jewish summer camps, education programs, and other Jewish community life activities for families

JDC Worldwide Programs - Romania: " became part of the Soviet bloc following World War II, suffered greatly under its long-time communist dictator, Nicolae Ceausescu, who left the nation in dire economic straits when he was overthrown and executed in December 1989. It wasn’t until 1996, when the former communists still dominating the government were finally swept from power, that Romania began to undertake serious social and economic reforms. Its obsolete infrastructure and industrial base hampered its transition to a market economy, and macroeconomic gains have yet to overcome widespread poverty. Romania joined the European Union in 2007."

FrumFind.org: "Where ever we may be living, we need to see how we can do the things that we have been especially gifted to do. We may be in the US or in Israel or somewhere else, but the Jewish people have our bond to G-d, and a great deal is expected of us.
אור לגויים אחרים. אומה של כוהנים.
We the Jewish people are nation of priests, of Kohanim, We are a light unto the other nations.
If we as G-d’s chosen people give up on our land, on our rights and each other, then you can pretty much expect the other nations to follow suit. In biblical time it was Yosef, who sustained the entire planet because of his wisdom. We can not allow unwise leaders, or rabble rousing political activists to control our destiny.
The so called United Nations is clearly not what they may once have been. Perhaps they represent the poor or downtrodden, or perhaps they are simply wallowing in self interest. When all the nations of come to feel the pinch of an economic decline, the most obvious direction to turn to see who is pulling the political strings, is to take a look at the nation with the deepest pockets, and the most liquid of all assest."

Oh Its Easy!: Social Ad Cloud: FrumFind.org: "FrumFind.org: "Finally, we need to be able to ask each other for what we need. Things are tough everywhere, and we all might not be able to help each other in the exact way that we need. One person might be wealthy in creative ways while some else has abundant financial resources but requires assistance that may not be commonly available.
It may be the case where we need to give of ourselves freely now, without even expecting compensation, and then somehow remarkably we find our compensation comes down like rain from the heavens, that we had never even expected to receive."

Frum Find The Place To Find All Things Frum (Blog): New school on the block - The Jewish Standard: "The Jewish Standard
New school on the block - The Jewish Standard: "Amid a turbulent economy, an increasing number of day-school parents are suffering sleepless nights wondering how to scrape up enough money to cover tuition fees of $15,000 or more per child. Some parents are even opting out of day schools altogether.
Lauren Ariev Gellman understands their predicament. As the mother of three elementary-school-aged children, she was often frustrated by the high cost of her children’s day school and the relatively mediocre education it offered.
Instead of complaining, Gellman, of Highland Park, sought a solution. Her response to the “yeshiva tuition crisis” is the Pre-Collegiate Learning Center of New Jersey for eighth through 12th-graders, which will open at the East Brunswick Jewish Center in September.
The nondenominational Jewish school will offer a full curriculum of general and Judaic studies, including many self-paced individual-learning opportunities. The annual tuition, in contrast to many area Jewish high schools that cost upward of $20,000, will be $5,000.""

Ilan High School
Ilan High School: "Extra curricular and enrichment activities are a key part of the Ilan experience, as well. The Ilan students, many of whom travel from various Jersey communities and from as far away as Brooklyn, NY, love to be here! Our school calendar is punctuated with trips, shabbatonim, Yimei Iyun, guest speakers, clubs, chagigot, chessed activities, parent-daughter events, yearbook and Torah Bowl meetings, basketball games, and school play practice. Ilan is a place of learning, growth, and joy, and within the broad range of activities and course offerings, each student has an opportunity to shine.
We encourage you to preview our school video which provides a wonderful glimpse into Ilan High School. A high school student will spend 300,000 minutes in high school: why not spend ten minutes watching the enclosed video and exploring a wonderful option"

I am sure everyone has heard many stories regarding random friendships they never approved, or even entire accounts getting hacked. I had an entire account taken down once because I was adding friends too quickly. Now I never do anything near what I did then, but one time I sent friend requests to maybe four or five people from the same person, that I did not know, and was severely penalized with a 14 day hold on adding new friends.
Also realize all those fun little apps out there, take their toll on you bandwidth by sinking in these “connections” into your computer via cookies or whatever other methods they utilize""

June « 2010 « FixTheWorld.us: "The point of this group is too simple to debate. Negotiation with terrorists is a concept which is doomed to fail from the start. Even a successful negotiation with terrorist promoting organizations will only lend legitimacy to these groups, and their perverted causes.
Has the entire world already forgotten the bitter results produced by negotiation attempts made to release hostages during the Hostage Crisis in Iran in 1979?
Has the World already forgotten the bitter results of so many failed attempts to negotiate with terrorists, such as during the 1976 Olympics?
How will history be re-written to show some sort of “new truth” regarding these horrible event orchestrated by a truly evil faction. The only rational approach to dealing with a culture of terrorism must be a hard lined defense."

My lab studies hydrocephalus, probably the most commonly treated pediatric neurosurgical condition. Most people think hydrocephalus was solved 50 years ago with invention of the shunt. But the kids I see with brain water problems, and their parents, don’t think the challenge is over. They ask: Why do I keep having headaches? Why do I keep having operations? Hydrocephalus needs new thinking, new imaging, new drugs, new interest. Our patients want us to innovate, and come up with something better."
